Last semester I took a course, Design and Blogs in the Design Studies department. Together the class started a blog, where we were the authors of our topic of choice. The blog titled, Overlooked, Undesigned, targeted our daily observations of objects that are either well designed, or just plain ugly that we see regularly. By critiquing everything from a MetroCard to a toothbrush, the results were very interesting.
I realize this is another topic I might be interested in pursuing. Looking at ordinary things and realizing they are all designed with purpose. Not sure what this means, but it is an interest of mine. Such as, how can we bring awareness to others, who just “overlook” these objects and make them aware that everything that surrounds us is designed? Hm.
